Behind the Scenes: Our Team Day Out at Ancaster Leisure

At the beginning of June, our team swapped the workshop, front-of-house desks and offices for

a day of friendly competition at Ancaster Leisure Karting and Activity Venue.

Held on Saturday 6th June, the day wasn't about work, targets or deadlines. Instead, it was an opportunity to reward the team for their hard work, strengthen relationships between

departments, and spend some time together outside of the usual working environment.

Why Team Days Matter

At Ayliff's Garage, every member of the team plays an important role. From our technicians in

the workshop to our front-of-house team and those working ‘behind the scenes’, everyone

contributes to delivering the best possible service to our customers.

While we work together every day, we're often focused on our own responsibilities. The team day gave everyone the chance to relax, get to know each other better and strengthen

relationships away from the workplace.

We strongly believe that looking after our team is part of looking after our customers. When our

team feels supported, connected and appreciated, that positive culture carries through into the

service we provide every day.

Let the Competition Begin!

Our day started with air rifle shooting, and it didn't take long for the competitive spirit to appear.

One of the biggest surprises of the morning came from Kelly, who impressed everyone with her

unexpected shooting skills and accuracy.

Some team members also had the opportunity to try larger rifles, with Max, Ben, Becky and

Josh all rising to the challenge and impressing the rest of the group.

Full Speed Ahead

Next up was the activity everyone had been waiting for – go-karting.

The racing brought out a side of some team members that we don't often see at work. Shaun,

one of our kindest and usually quietest technicians, revealed a surprisingly competitive streak

and was determined to make the most of every opportunity on the track — including a few light-

hearted “nudges” past the front-of-house team!

The racing was incredibly close, with James taking first place and Shaun finishing a close

second. Thankfully, everyone left the track smiling, no matter where they placed.

Time to Refuel

After working up an appetite, the team enjoyed lunch together, sharing stories from the morning

and spending time with colleagues they don't always get the chance to chat with during the

working week.

Striking Out at Bowling

The final event of the day was bowling, where the competitive atmosphere continued right until

the last frame. Becky's performance quickly became one of the talking points of the afternoon,

with plenty of good-natured teasing from the rest of the team about whether she might be

“benched” from future bowling teams. Despite a few hilarious and questionable bowling

techniques across the group, everyone had a fantastic time and plenty of laughs along the way.

More Than Just a Day Out

While the activities were great fun, the biggest success of the day was bringing everyone

together. Staff from across the business had the chance to spend time together in a completely

different setting, helping to strengthen relationships and build connections.

Days like these remind us that behind every booking, repair and customer interaction is a team

of people working towards the same goal.

We're incredibly proud of the team we've built and grateful for the hard work, commitment and

positivity they bring every day.

This staff day out was our chance to say thank you, celebrate what we've achieved together and create some great memories along the way.

Based on the laughter, friendly rivalry and stories we're still hearing weeks later, we'd say it was a huge success.

Now the real question is... what will the next team day bring? Another chance to challenge

James for the go-karting crown, a completely new competition, or something none of us have

seen coming?
